History
Morning Star began in 1972 by Col Smith and Wayne
Warner.
Wayne
Warner “the original glasser” 35 years later is
still glassing in the same family factory as he supports
his sons Brett and Shanon.
Wayne although
the glassing partner when the company began also shaped a
lot, particularly the now retro twin fin which was the at
that time “ new Age” shape of the era in the
mid seventies.
Morning Star was Tom Carrol’s very first
board sponsor and ironically Tom still orders the odd short
performance board from Brett under the Quicksilver label.
Spotting talent early still continues in the Warner company
which currently sponsors one of the best Junior teams in
Australia and therefore the world, via the Warner brand
name.
With
the “Retro” boom back again go the whole hog
and order an original from one of Australia`s pioneers in
what was then a new age shape.
After all of those years Wayne still remembers this classic
shape, he even does it with his original templates. Maybe
there’s something to be said for sniffing only the
finest of resins!
