Chris Davidson Wins Rip Curl Prime 6 Star in Hosseger.
Chris Davidson- The Leyten Double Fister.
It was Davos day in
Seignosse,France on
Saturday August 23rd. 2008 Rip Curl Pro 6 Star Prime.
A first in ASP surfing history saw two competitors
exit the water 10 minutes before the end of a quarter
final heat as Josh Kerr (Aus) scored a 10 and a 9.17
comboeing power-surfer Drew Courtney with 12 minutes
remaining in small offshore swell.
Sparking a flood of internet abuse and professional
criticism Josh in his ever so sensational style
exited the water with 12 minutes remaining . Two
Minutes later as the swell seemingly came to a
standstill, and happy with his achievement to date
the notorious backhand hacker Drew Courtney(Aus)
quietly exited the water. The 3 time World Arial
champ had him in checkmate with waves too small to
pull a huge hack and the freak having punted his
trademark to land a perfect 10 in one maneuver. Steak
and three veg would not cut it.
Although confidence brimming it didn't last and the
in following heat Davo consistent with his previous
strategy put Josh in the chasers seat from the start
posting a 7 and a 5 from go. Two decent scores in the
bag and it was out the back to chase a better scoring
wave. Kerr although the full repertoire athlete, punt
or power turn he was on the back foot. Semi final
over and Davo was on his roll.
Finals - Davo and Jihad Khodr (BRA) both agreed to
wait an hour for the swell to build.
Jihad was on fire throughout this event with some
ealier outstanding airs aswell as a couple of huge
hacks, commentary was in his favour, until Davo rode
his first wave. Resembling a small day in North Narra
car park rights Davo linked the soft sections with
spead, painted the closeouts with floaters and
finished one of his nine point rides with the
textbook layback. Confidence up, first claim and the
roll continued.
Wave selection, variety and execution as each turn
hit the midnight mark or beyond another 9 pointer
Davo exited the water with 5 minutes
remaining...........
"It
has been a tough time for me since I got back on the
WQS," Davidson said. "I was injured last year and
with very few sponsorships so it has been a struggle
but I am already looking forward to competing against
the ASP Top 45 next year. So stoked, I cannot believe
I have won it."
The White Dark Horse is back!!!!
