Margaret River Drug Aware WQS

The Margaret River Drug Aware again this year was an
awesome comp. Insane surfing in up to 10 foot swell
kept the youth at bay reflecting on depth of
knowledge, wave selection and self pacing in testing
conditions. The quarter finals and onwards size had
subsided and even one heat re-started due to a
lull. The swell had a pulsating pattern and made it
difficult to decide to wait for the right one or take
all you could get in case it stopped.
Such was the case with Chris Davidson who was on fire after his recent roll in the National Jim Beam board rider series in North Narra. With only a three and a five to his name one could not help to think that they were a bit tight on the points, although happy I was to see it go through to Tommy Whiticker.
Hyndsite once said to me he thought Davo was the best wasted talent we have ever had, Slater ranks him as one of the Worlds top 5 best free surfers Bruce Andy and Davo go way back, after 5 years out of the spot light he has had long enough to think about it. Currently sitting at No7 on the QS .....bring on the dark white horse!!
